Right 2 Read NY is a New York-based advocacy organization dedicated to ensuring that every child in our state has access to evidence-based literacy instruction.
We believe that learning to read is a fundamental right — not a privilege. Too many students across New York are reaching middle school unable to read proficiently, and the research is clear on why: schools are not universally using the instructional methods that the science of reading has proven to work.
Our mission is to change that by advocating for legislation, raising awareness, and empowering New Yorkers to make their voices heard in Albany.
What We Stand For
- Equity in literacy — ensuring that students from all backgrounds have equal access to effective instruction
- Evidence-based, structured literacy instruction in every New York classroom
- Early screening so struggling readers are identified and supported before they fall behind
- Professional development so teachers have the training they need to teach all students to read
Disclaimer: Right 2 Read NY is an independent constituent advocacy initiative and is not affiliated with, authorized by, or officially connected to the office of Assembly Member R. We are a group of concerned New York constituents who support the Right to Read Act (A78/S9747) and believe in the importance of evidence-based literacy instruction for all New York students.
